…the best time to plant a tree is 100 years ago. The second best time is today.
If you’ve consistently and passionately made all your life choices based on the question, “How can I please the Lord right now?” then you are my new hero and I want your phone number. Congratulations. You planted your tree 100 years ago.
The rest of us need to get out our shovel and fertilizer and start now to live with our eyes on eternity. This temporary, though tangible, Titanic ship that we sojourn on is going down and taking everything with it. Start stockpiling your treasures in Heaven. Release your grip on whatever form your earthly idols take. But, you can’t get there by gritting your teeth and trying harder. Remember, “More of Jesus, less of me” in that order.
According to Mike Bickle, “We will never be satisfied in the pursuit of false and temporary fulfillments. Only when we begin to touch and experience some of these eternal satisfactions will we be empowered to let go of the inferior ones.”
How can you get to know Him better so you can love Him more so you can relax your grip on your idols?
