I start every quiet time with great anticipation. Today I’ll focus. Today I’ll really worship. Today I’ll connect with the Lord. Then somewhere around the 30 second mark I lose focus, seduced by the dark side into distraction again! Do any of these tell tale signs of sabotage show up in your quiet times?
The roast beef in the fridge is calling your name–literally!
“Here I Am to Worship,” gives way to the Flintstones’ theme song.
The mole on your arm has never looked so fascinating.
Is it feed a cold and starve a fever?
Chuckling over old “Where’s the beef,” commercial and “Two-all-beef-patties-special-sauce-lettuce-cheese-pickles-onions-on-a-sesame-seed-bun,”chant.
Overcome by tremendous guilt over failure to dust inside of jars arranged on top of fridge.
Cottage cheese textured ceiling looks like surface of the moon when you squint just right.
Still repenting over ________________ from 1982. (fill in blank, use more paper if necessary).
Composing shopping list: 1 head lettuce, 2 lbs. ground beef, red grapes on sale for $1.79 a pound, almost out of toilet paper….
The spirit is willing but my flesh is really, really weak.
